More and more appliances in the home require a dedicated circuit: induction, EV charging point, heat pump, air conditioning. Older fuse boxes are not designed for this. This page shows what you need, what it costs and what you can check yourself if something trips.
In brief
If the RCD keeps tripping, first find which appliance is causing it by switching groups on one by one. If you have a new hob, EV charging point or heat pump, an extra circuit or new fuse box is often needed. You'll get the price from our tariff list in advance.

Power out? How to find the cause
- Check in the meter cupboard which switch is down: a single circuit or an RCD that switches off multiple circuits at once.
- Switch off all circuits under that RCD, reset the RCD and then switch the circuits on one by one. The circuit at which it trips again is where the problem lies.
- Unplug all appliances on that circuit and try again. If it no longer trips, the problem is with an appliance. If it still trips without appliances, the problem is in the wiring and an electrician is needed.
If you smell burning, see black marks or a switch becomes hot, do not switch anything back on and call us. This is not a job to investigate yourself.

What does a new fuse box cost?

I'm getting an induction hob. Is my fuse box big enough?
Often a dedicated cooking circuit is needed. We install one for € 350 excl. VAT (€ 423.50 incl.). Send a photo of your meter cupboard and we will tell you whether the fuse box needs to be expanded or replaced.
My RCD keeps tripping. What now?
First use the circuits and plugs to find which appliance is causing it; the steps are above. If it trips without appliances too, or no longer tests, call an electrician.
Do you also do solar panels and heat pumps?

Can you install a circuit for the EV charging point?
