Underfloor heating — installation, bleeding and fault resolution
Underfloor heating provides even warmth without cold spots. But does a room stay cold, do you hear gurgling in the manifold or does the boiler pressure keep dropping? We find the cause, balance the zones properly and also install new underfloor heating.

Why underfloor heating does not get (properly) warm
The most common cause is air in the pipes. Air blocks the flow, leaving one circuit or an entire room cold. An incorrectly balanced manifold, a pump that isn't running properly or low central heating pressure can also be the cause. In older systems, dirt or sludge in the pipes can reduce flow.
Does the boiler pressure keep dropping? There may be a leak in the floor. We trace it precisely, so the entire floor doesn't have to come up. Read more in underfloor heating leak detection.
- One room stays cold — whilst the rest does get warm.
- Gurgling or ticking — in the manifold or the floor.
- Boiler pressure drops — and you have to keep topping up.
- Slow to heat — it takes hours for the floor to reach temperature.

Install underfloor heating
In new-build and existing properties: advice on design, precise installation and connection to manifold and central heating system.
Call 070 783 0224Bleed & balance
We bleed the circuits and balance them for even heat distribution.
Call 070 783 0224Breakdown & not warm
We find the cause: air, pump, manifold, pressure or flow — and fix it.

If the manifold is leaking or malfunctioning, or the pressure is dropping, we'll check whether repair or replacement is needed and trace leaks precisely.
More about leak detectionFlush underfloor heating or replace the manifold
In older systems, sludge or dirt can gradually clog the pipes. Flushing removes it. Whether that's needed in your case, we can only tell after inspecting the system: often bleeding and proper balancing is enough. We'll check whether flushing is necessary and advise you honestly.
The same applies to the manifold. A leaking coupling or stuck zone valve can sometimes be repaired; sometimes replacement is wiser. You'll hear in advance what we advise and what it costs.

Find the cause
We check pressure, pump, manifold and flow, and bleed or adjust zones where necessary.

We fix the fault or advise what else is needed.
Check yourself first
There are a few things you can safely check yourself before calling.
- Check the boiler pressure — when cold, most central heating systems are around 1.5 bar. Too low? Top up according to your boiler's manual.
- Check the thermostat — is it set high enough and is the room thermostat for that room working?
- Are the circuits open? — on the manifold there is a knob or valve for each circuit. If one has been turned off, that room will stay cold.
- Bleed — many manifolds have a bleed valve. Follow the manual and then check the pressure. If in doubt, let us do it.
When should you call us?
- Immediately — water on or from the floor, or a manifold that's leaking.
- Today — the pressure keeps dropping, or the underfloor heating stays cold after bleeding.
- By appointment — installing new underfloor heating, or a system that has been slow to warm up for some time.

Frequently asked questions about underfloor heating
Why isn't my underfloor heating getting warm?
Often caused by air in the pipes, a closed or incorrectly adjusted zone, too low boiler pressure or a pump that isn't running properly. In older systems, dirt can reduce flow.
How do I bleed underfloor heating?
Many manifolds have a bleed valve. Turn off the heating, follow your manifold's manual and then check the boiler pressure. If in doubt, we'll do it for you.
Does underfloor heating need flushing?
Not always. Often bleeding and proper balancing is enough. We'll check whether flushing is needed and give you honest advice.
Do you also install new underfloor heating?
Yes, in new builds and existing properties: advice on the layout, precise installation and connection to manifold and central heating system, and balancing per zone.
The boiler pressure keeps dropping. Is there a leak in the floor?
That's possible, but central heating pipes or radiators can also cause pressure loss. We measure systematically and only open up where the leak is.
