Heating problems rarely come at a convenient time. On this page, you'll find for each issue what you can check yourself first, when you need a technician and what it costs approximately. All prices are from our own tariff list.

If you have a heating problem, first check the water pressure, the fault code and the thermostat. If a reset doesn't help, or the pressure keeps dropping, have a technician take a look. If you smell gas, first call the network operator's emergency number, not an installer.

Three things you can check before you call
A large proportion of the breakdown reports we receive turn out, after a few questions, to be something simple. So first check these three points. It may save you call-out charges, and if a technician does need to come, they will know immediately where to start.
- The water pressure. On the boiler or in the display there's a pressure gauge. The correct value is in your boiler's manual. If the pressure is too low, the boiler shuts down for safety. Topping up once is normal; topping up every week means a leak or a faulty expansion vessel.
- The fault code. Write down the letter or number on the display and take a photo of it. That code tells the technician far more than "it's not working". Look up the meaning in the manual for your own boiler; codes differ per brand.
- The thermostat. Flat batteries, an incorrect programme or a thermostat that's lost connection: it looks like a boiler breakdown, but the boiler simply isn't receiving a call for heat.

For work on underfloor heating (manifold, pump, flushing) there is no fixed price in our list, because it depends heavily on the number of zones and accessibility. You will then receive a tailored price after photos or an initial visit.
Smell of gas or an alarm going off? Do this first
If you smell gas, or your carbon monoxide detector goes off, that's not a job to schedule. Open windows and doors, don't use any flames or switches, and leave the house if the smell is strong. Then call the network operator's emergency number. Our gas smell in the house page lists the steps and the number, with the source included.
Only once the network operator has shut off the leak and the cause is in your pipe or appliance does the installer come into the picture. We then repair the pipework and check afterwards that everything is sealed.

What should I do if my central heating boiler has broken down?
Check the water pressure, note the fault code and check the thermostat. Try resetting once according to the manual. If it breaks down again afterwards, call a technician and give them the code.
What does a technician cost for a boiler breakdown?
According to our price list we charge a starting rate of € 100 – € 165 excl. VAT (€ 121 – € 199.65 incl.) for the first 30 minutes and diagnosis, plus a call-out charge of € 35 excl. VAT (€ 42.35 incl.). You hear about parts and extra time in advance.
What does a new central heating boiler cost?

I smell gas. Should I call you?
No, call the grid operator first. Open windows and doors, don't use flames or switches and call the emergency number listed under smell of gas in the house. After that we can repair the pipework.
Do you also do underfloor heating?
Yes: manifolds, pumps, bleeding, flushing and leaks. The price depends on the number of circuits and accessibility, so you will receive a tailored price after photos.
