A blockage that keeps returning, a sewer that has subsided or a pipe that is broken: then unblocking once more will not help. We first determine precisely where the problem is with the camera, and then repair in a targeted way — only where necessary. This way repairing your sewer is no guesswork.

Sewer repair: when unblocking is no longer enough
Unblocking clears the pipe. But if the pipe itself has subsided, broken or been penetrated by roots, the blockage will return. Then the sewer must be repaired or replaced at that spot.
We start with a sewer camera inspection. This shows us what's wrong and where, so we don't have to dig on guesswork. If the drain is now completely blocked, we unblock first. Sewer subsided or broken? Call 070 783 0224.
- Subsided sewerA subsidence where water and waste remain standing.
- Broken or cracked pipeSewage leaks into the ground and soil washes into the pipe.
- Displaced jointA joint that has come loose, often due to subsiding ground.
- Root ingressRoots grow through the joints and slowly fill the pipe.
Signs that your sewer has subsided or is broken
Do you recognise any of these situations? Then it's worth having it inspected first.
Blockage that keeps returning
Is the drain blocked again within a few weeks after unblocking? Then the cause usually lies in the pipe itself: subsidence, a break or a shifted connection.
Call directlySubsidence above the pipe
Is the tiled floor, patio or garden sinking in one spot above the sewer pipe? Then sewage water may be running into the ground and washing away soil around a broken pipe.
Call directlySewer odour or vermin
Does it smell of sewage outside or in the crawl space, or do you see rats around the property? A broken or dislodged pipe may be the cause.
Call directlyOld stoneware pipes
Many older properties still have a sewer made of stoneware. It becomes brittle, the joints shift and roots grow into it easily. Inspecting before you renovate or pave prevents doing the work twice.
Call directlySewer repair or sewer replacement
What's needed depends on what the camera shows. You'll receive honest advice: we won't open up more than necessary.
Local repair
If the problem is in one place, such as a broken piece of pipe or a shifted connection, we only open there and replace that section of the line.
Subsided sewer on gradient
With subsidence, water and waste remain standing in the pipe. We lift the subsided section and relay it with the correct gradient, so everything flows through again.
Sewer replacement
If the pipe has subsided, broken or been overgrown with roots over a larger section, replacement is often the better choice than repeated local repairs. We lay the new pipe with the correct fall again.
Inspection chambers & access points
A well-accessible access point or inspection chamber makes maintenance much easier later. Where this is missing or broken, we include it in consultation.
On soft peat and clay soil, such as in The Hague and Delft, external sewers subside over the years. That's why we also check the gradient of the rest of the pipe when there's subsidence.

What does a sewer repair cost?
No sewer is the same. That's why you always get a fixed price from us first, after we've inspected the pipe with the camera.
The price mainly depends on:
- Where the damage is — under the floor or crawl space, in the garden or under the paving.
- How many metres of pipe are damaged, and whether it's one crack or subsidence over a longer section.
- The method — a short partial repair, relining from the inside (without excavation) or replacing a section of pipe.
- Accessibility — whether we can reach the pipe via an inspection chamber or rodding point, or need to open up first.
With the camera inspection you know in advance exactly what's wrong and what the repair will cost. So you never pay for excavation work that wasn't necessary. Is the damage in a shared pipe in an apartment building? Then it's usually a matter for the owners' association (VvE) — see plumber for VvE's.

Frequently asked questions about sewer repair
When does a sewer need to be repaired rather than unblocked?
If the blockage keeps returning, or if the camera shows subsidence, a break, a shifted joint or root ingress. Unblocking then clears the pipe temporarily, but the cause remains.
Does the whole garden need to be dug up for a sewer repair?
Usually not. With the camera we determine in advance exactly where the problem is. We open up only that spot, so the rest of your garden, patio or paving stays in place.
Repair or replace: which is better?
If the problem is in one place, local repair is often sufficient. If the pipe has subsided or broken over a larger section, or if it's old earthenware pipes with multiple cracks, replacement is usually wiser. You receive our advice with the camera footage, so you can see for yourself.
Who pays for the repair: owner, tenant, owners' association (VvE) or municipality?
Usually the owner is responsible for the sewer on their own property and the municipality for the section under the public road; where the boundary lies exactly varies per municipality. Our report states where the problem is, so it's clear who is responsible.
What does a sewer repair cost?
That depends on the location, how deep the pipe lies and how much needs replacing. After the camera inspection you'll hear in advance what it costs; call 070 783 0224 for an estimate.
Can I see what's wrong before you start?
Yes. During the camera inspection you watch along on the screen, and we record the findings with photos and the location of the problem.
Fixed price agreement
You will hear in advance what the repair will cost. First we determine with the camera where the problem is, only then do we dig.
