Is it your sewer or the municipality's sewer?
For every house with a sewer connection, part of the pipe belongs to you and part to the municipality. Where that boundary lies varies by municipality.
In most municipalities in the region there is an unblocking point or boundary chamber at the property boundary. If there is water in it, the blockage is usually further along, in the municipal section. If it is empty while your drains are full, the problem is on your side. There are exceptions: in Westland, for example, the private connection runs through to beneath the public road, and in Rotterdam the municipality sets the boundary at the plot boundary.
If in doubt, first ask the neighbours. If they also have problems, it's often the main sewer and you call the municipality. On our location pages you'll find the reporting number and what the municipality reimburses for each municipality.
Do you live in rented accommodation? Then report a blockage or break to the landlord first. In a flat, a blockage in the stack pipe is often the responsibility of the VvE.
Unblocking, inspecting, repairing
For most sewer problems we work in this order. That way you don't pay for work that isn't necessary.
- Clearing. If the drain is blocked now, we first unblock it with a spring or high-pressure jet, so you can use water again.
- Inspection. If the blockage returns or we have doubts about the pipe, the camera goes in. You watch along on the screen.
- Location determination. Using the metre counter and a transmitter, we determine where the fault is and how deep. This determines whether and where excavation is needed.
- Price in advance. You receive the advice and price before we proceed: repair, replace a section or do nothing for now.
- Repair and check. After the work we flush through and inspect again, so you know the pipe is in order.

Frequently asked questions about sewer service
What exactly does a sewer service do?
A sewer service clears blocked drains and sewers, inspects pipes with a camera and repairs or replaces damaged sections. At PandFix you can arrange all of this through one number, even if it turns out that something needs repairing after unblocking.
Should I call the municipality first or a plumber first?
If the neighbours also have problems, or if the inspection chamber at the property boundary is full of water, call the municipality first: the problem is probably in the public section. If only you have problems, it's usually in your own pipe and you can call us.
How quickly can you be here?

Do I get a price in advance?
Yes. You'll hear in advance what the unblocking or inspection costs. If more is needed, we'll discuss that with you first before we continue.
Do you also work for landlords and owners' associations (VvE)?
Yes. We then prepare a report with photos or camera footage, so the owner or owners' association (VvE) can see what was done and where the problem was.
