A new central heating boiler costs more than just the appliance. An old boiler needs removing, sometimes the flue has to be replaced too, and after installation the system is checked and commissioned. On this page we list all the items from our price list, so you know what a quote consists of and where the differences come from.

Why one quote is higher than another
- Output and hot water. One shower or a house with a bath and two showers requires a different boiler. A boiler that's too small won't provide enough hot water; one that's too large will cycle frequently. We look at the number of taps and the type of property.
- The flue. If the existing flue suits the new boiler and is in good condition, it can stay. If it's old, from a different system or not suitable for a high-efficiency boiler, a new flue or flue kit is needed. That's often the biggest difference between two quotes.
- A different location. If the boiler is moved, for example from the kitchen to the loft, the gas pipe, heating pipes and condensate drain must be extended. That costs more time and materials.
- Expansion vessel and appendages. In older installations, the expansion vessel is often exhausted. A new boiler with an old vessel quickly leads to pressure problems. Also read expansion vessel replacement.
- Accessibility. A boiler in a cramped loft cupboard or behind fixed panelling requires extra work. We can often see that from a photo.
Who is allowed to install a central heating boiler?
Installing, maintaining, repairing and commissioning a gas combustion appliance, such as a central heating boiler or gas water heater, may according to the government only be done by a company with a CO certificate. This also applies to the ducts for air supply and flue gases. Anyone who as a client engages a company without a certificate is also liable to prosecution. So always ask for it, from us and from others.

That is why adjustment, inspection and commissioning are part of every installation. This is not an extra: without that inspection a boiler may not be put into use.
Replace, repair or switch?
A boiler that's still working well doesn't need replacing. If it breaks down more often or parts are hard to get, replacement is often cheaper than continued repairs. On replace or repair you'll find the questions that help with that choice.
Many people also ask whether they can replace their boiler with a hybrid heat pump. With a hybrid system, a central heating boiler remains for hot water and the coldest days, and a heat pump does most of the heating. Whether that suits your home depends mainly on the insulation and the radiators.

What does a new central heating boiler cost including installation?
According to our price list € 2,669.42 excl. VAT (€ 3,230 incl.) for a combi boiler such as the Intergas Xtreme 36 CW5. Additional items may apply, such as removal of the old boiler or a new flue.
Does the flue always have to be replaced as well?
No. If the existing flue fits the new boiler and is in good order, it can remain. If not, a new flue costs € 380 excl. VAT (€ 459.80 incl.) according to our price list.
How long does replacing a central heating boiler take?
A like-for-like replacement in the same location is usually completed within one working day. If the boiler is being moved or the flue needs to be changed, it will take longer. This will be stated in the quote.
What is "CO-keur aanmelden" on the price list?
That's the item for completing the mandatory inspection on handover. Work on a central heating boiler may only be carried out by a company with a CO certificate, and the system may only be used after inspection.
Can I replace my central heating boiler with a heat pump?
Sometimes. A hybrid heat pump alongside a boiler suits many homes; fully electric requires a well-insulated house. Read hybrid heat pump.
