A wall-hung toilet makes a small space calmer and easier to keep clean. Behind the wall comes a concealed cistern in a frame, and over it a stud wall that is tiled or finished. Customers often ask us for a specific brand and model; that's possible, as long as the cistern fits the pan and the space. Here you can read what happens, what to look for when choosing and what it costs.

From floor-standing to wall-hung toilet in five steps
- Old toilet out. Water off, pan and cistern disconnected and removed. We immediately check the condition of the drain and the supply pipe.
- Prepare waste and supply. A floor-standing toilet often has the waste in the floor or low in the wall. For a wall-hung toilet it needs to come out at a fixed height. If not, we relocate it.
- Install frame with concealed cistern. The frame is mounted level against the wall and anchored to floor and wall. We agree the height of the bowl with you.
- Close the stud wall. With moisture-resistant boards around it, so that the hatch for the flush plate remains accessible. Then tiling or finishing.
- Hang the cistern, fit the flush plate, test. We adjust the flush and check that everything is sealed.
What should you look for when choosing a wall-hung toilet?
- Cistern and flush plate belong together. A flush plate only fits cisterns from the same manufacturer and series. If you buy it yourself, check this beforehand, or send us the link.
- Rimless or with flush rim. A rimless pan is easier to clean. It makes little difference for installation.
- Height. A slightly higher bowl is more comfortable for those with limited mobility. With a wall-hung toilet you choose that height yourself during installation.
- Depth of the space. The stud wall takes up space. In a narrow toilet we measure beforehand whether the door can still open freely.
- Small basin as well? A basin next to or above the toilet requires an extra cold water and waste pipe. That can be run in the same stud wall.

Whether chasing or routing work is needed depends on where the waste is now. We can see that from a photo or a short visit, and it's included in the price you get in advance.
How long does it take and can you use the toilet in between?
The installation itself is usually completed within one working day if the waste pipe does not need to be relocated. Tiling on the stud wall then needs to cure and be grouted; sometimes we do that on a second day. If you only have one toilet in the house, we plan it so that you can flush again in the evening.
In a flat or maisonette we pay extra attention to noise: a properly fixed frame with the right sound insulation prevents the neighbours from hearing every flush. And we always leave the access panel free. That seems like a detail, but anyone who tiles over the panel has to open up the wall at the first breakdown.

Can every floor-standing toilet be replaced by a wall-hung toilet?
Almost always, but the waste outlet must be at the right height and the wall or floor must be able to support the frame. With a floor outlet we usually relocate it. A photo of the current situation already tells us a lot.
Can I buy a toilet myself and have it fitted?
Yes. Send us the make and model of cistern, pan and flush plate in advance, so we can be sure they match and we bring the right fixing materials.
How much weight can a wall-hung toilet bear?
A well-anchored frame with built-in cistern is designed for normal use by adults. The load capacity is stated in the manufacturer's specifications. It depends primarily on secure fixing to floor and wall.
Can a cloakroom basin fit in the same stud wall?
Yes. We then run an additional cold water pipe and drain in the wall. Concealing pipes for a fountain is listed in our price list at € 150 excl. VAT (€ 181.50 incl.).
Can I access the cistern later if something breaks?
Yes, via the access hatch behind the flush plate. That's why we always leave that hatch accessible and never tile over it.
