Leak detection costs The Hague what do you pay?
Leak detection without breaking through isn't 'billing an hour and hoping'. You want to know roughly the leak detection price, what's included, and when it pays for itself compared to breaking open.
Where are the costs?
The price typically includes: on-site assessment, measurements (thermography, moisture, acoustic and/or camera), and on request a findings report for you or the insurer. Repair of the leak itself is a separate step — we only plan that once the source is clear.

What does the price of leak detection depend on?
No two leaks are the same. A leaking drain under a shower is different from a leak in an underfloor heating pipe under the screed. That's why we first look at the situation for every request. These are the points that determine the costs most.
The main factors
- Type of pipe. A water pipe, central heating pipe, underfloor heating or drain each requires a different approach and different equipment.
- Accessibility. Is the pipe behind tiles, in a screed floor, in the crawl space or in a wall of a flat? The harder to reach, the more measurement work.
- Number of methods. Sometimes one measurement points directly to the leak. Sometimes we combine thermal imaging, acoustic and tracer gas to be certain.
- Report. If you need a report for the insurer, we include the measurements and photos in detail.
- Emergency or planned. A leak that is ongoing now requires rapid response. An old damp patch can simply be scheduled.
- Repair. Opening up and repairing the leak is a separate step. We only discuss this once the source is clear.
How to keep the investigation short
- Do the water meter test beforehand: turn off all taps and check if the meter keeps running.
- Take photos of the damp patch and note when you first saw it.
- With a central heating leak, check how often you need to top up the boiler.
- Make sure the meter cupboard, the crawl space and the space under the location are accessible.
- Do you live in a flat? Ask if the upstairs neighbours are home. The leak is sometimes at theirs.
- Ask your insurer whether a report is needed and what should be in it.
Make clear agreements in advance
When making the appointment, ask what exactly is included in the price. Is it only about locating, or also about opening up and repairing? Is a report included? And what happens if the leak is not found at the first visit, for example because a leak only leaks sometimes? Good agreements in advance prevent discussion afterwards, also with your insurer. We state the price for the investigation before we start.
Targeted searching saves repair work
Anyone who starts breaking open without measuring often has to open up multiple places. Every opening means new tiles, plastering or a section of floor. With leak detection, we only open up where the leak actually is. This keeps the repair work smaller and takes less time. What's more, you know for certain that the cause has been found, so the damage won't return. Read more about our approach on the leak detection page.
